Student Scholarships

One of the major ways that the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) supports and gives back to the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) and the Farm and Industry Short Course (FISC) is in the form of scholarships. These scholarships support sophomores, FISC Ag Forward participants and the future leaders of the CALS campus. The ability for WALSAA to provide this type of support is at the core of its mission and solidifies its connection to CALS. Starting with donations and continuing with annual silent auctions, WALSAA has been able to generate continued scholarship support over many years to deserving students of CALS.

WALSAA Student Awards

WALSAA Outstanding Sophomore Award

Annually, WALSAA selects several outstanding sophomores who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership and service to the University and their community. These students are awarded a financial gift to apply toward tuition in their junior year at UW-Madison. The amount of each award is up to $2,000 per student. The Outstanding Sophomore Award winners are recognized at a WALSAA Board meeting in the spring and at the scholars and donors event in the fall, in addition to being announced in the WALSAA Connection and website.
